
The UDTA Tennis Tournament wrapped up on September 28 with an exciting lineup of finals that showcased competitive spirit, strong athleticism, and great community energy at The Derryfield School Tennis courts.
In a tightly contested battle, Faizan Khalid emerged as the 4.0 Men’s Singles Champion, defeating Sunil Perayil with a scoreline of 4–6, 6–3, 1–0. The match delivered intense rallies and momentum swings, keeping spectators engaged until the final point.
The 3.5 Men’s Singles final saw Irvin Gurung claim the title after overcoming Bibek Thapa in straight sets, 7–6, 6–3. Irvin’s consistency during crucial points proved to be the difference in this competitive matchup.
In the doubles division, the duo Romit Humagai and Manish Humagain captured the Men’s 4.0 Open Doubles Championship, defeating Saroj Bhatta and Kiran Humagai with a score of 6–4, 7–6. Both teams displayed strong teamwork, tactical play, and impressive shot-making.
A competitive and thrilling Women’s Singles event also took place during the tournament.
In addition to the singles and men’s doubles categories, the tournament also featured Women’s Doubles and 55+ Doubles events, with champions and finalists delivering hard-fought matches that added even more excitement to the championship lineup.
The finals of all events were honored by the presence of Mr. George Lagos — Attorney and Former Executive Director of the New Hampshire Retirement System, who graced the closing day of the 5th UDTA Open Tennis Championship. His participation added distinction to the occasion as he presented trophies and cash prizes to the champions and finalists.
All matches were held at the Tennis Complex of Derryfield High School, Manchester, providing a fitting venue for an energetic and memorable finals day.
